Screen Capture Not Working

Yosemite on a MBP

Currently screen grab will not work either with command, shift 4 nor with the Grab application.

On Grab it just records a blank screen and with screen capture I get the UNABLE TO CAPTURE DESKTOP IMAGE message.

Presumably it os not a permissions issue as I can save other files to the desktop.

Any thoughts anyone? This happens intermittently and have only noticed it on Yosemite.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

A restore of OSX helps resolving little issues often:

Start up while holding CMD+R, it will start slowly, when you see the progress bar you can let go of the keys.

Choose "install OS", it will download (internet connection) and then refresh all OSX files at restart.

Yes, depending on your internet speed (about 4GB to download)
