i dropped my ipod into water for more than 3 minutes. what do I do?

Get a new one.

You can try placing it in a zip-lock bag with dry, uncooked rice for one to two weeks. That sometimes works, but not always.

Do not turn it on or plug in to charge as that will cause irreparable damage.

If the drying does not work, take it to an Apple store genius bar for an out of warranty replacement, cost depends on the model iPod you have.

Change the uncooked rice every two days or so.

If still problem

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.

The rice in a ziploc bag is probably your best bet. It works for phones, it should work as well for an iPod.
