This can happen if your login times out while you are composing a post, or the 15 minute edit window closes when trying to edit something you've just posted.

I understand this can also happen if the post you are writing is being or has been wiped by the hosts for any of the reasons within their prerogative.   You are not to know this until you activate the 'Post'.   My guess is that the same 15 minutes allowed for editing also governs this anomoly.
