Upgraded some time ago and lost all music.

I upgraded ITunes some time ago and in doing so lost all my music. I still have it on my ipod though. How do I reinstall this to the upgraded version on my PC?

Did you really lose it? First determine if the media files are still present in the iTunes > Media folder. If they are not you will have to restore them from the backup you of course made of your computer before installing new software, or from their original sources. If they are still there then try one of the following methods to rebuild the database which tells iTunes what media you have in your collection and where it is.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a different setup you transfer the old library from a computer or a backup directly to the new setup, not the device to the library. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
