Restricted features in many important apps

Regarding many of the questions/issues here. Why are Numbers, Pages & Keynote (along with their Microsoft equivalent apps) so feature restricted? Some of the features missing simply don't make sense; like the ability to select presentation slide backgrounds or change the characteristics of borders in a spreadsheet group of cells. It seems that the iPad is powerful enough to do these things, so why the restrictions. Thanks much.

Hi Chuck,

This is a user forum so the short answer would be, "We don't know."

I would suggest that you give Apple feedback regarding the specific features you need/want. In my experience they have been expanding the feature set in Numbers fairly steadily. This is the app I use in iOS. I am still waiting for the ability to relock a table in iOS.
