Can't turn off autocorrection

I have auto-correct set to OFF. However, it still insists upon changing what I type. For example, my sister's name is Nan. Every single bloody time I type it, auto-correct changes it to man. I backspace, re-type Nan, it changes it again. I've finally figured out a workaround--I type her entire name, Nancy, and then backspace to erase the -cy. Strangely enough that works. But why should I have to do that every single bloody time I want to type her name?! Insane. Since I have the auto-correct set to OFF, IMO, it should not be changing ANYthing. Ever. Not one word.

How do I make it stop?!

Apparently there's no way to delete my own post. But I found the answer myself: It's the third-party keyboard TouchPal that is the problem. I had to turn off auto-correct in that app itself, in addition to the phone itself's Settings. I suppose that means you'd have to do the same for every keyboard you might add.

Lesson learned.
