When I power up the mini, the desktop picture is pixelated, how do I correct this?

What model Mini?
Do apps work OK?
Have you tried changing the desktop wallpaper?
Does this happen in Safe Mode?
4GB, apps work OK, have not changed the wallpaper and it looks like safe mode, but I do not do it intentionally.
It appears when the Mini wakes up from sleep, it comes back in Safe Mode. This does not happen all the time but the only way I have found to clear it is to re-start it. This Mini is only a month old and I wonder if it could be something in the settings. This is my first Mac so I am not familiar with most of the operations. Any suggestions?
