Autocorrect issues in French

I'm having issues with autocorrect and autocompletion in French language. Often, when I begin typing a word, the autocorrect function will replace the beginning of that word with another. For example, I will type "anéa" for the beginning of the word "anéantir" (to annihilate), but autocorrect will switch the word to "ana" before I even finish typing the full word. This is only one example of many instances that the same kind of issue has happened to me while typing in French.

Anyone have an idea as to why this is happening? I really don't want to turn autocorrect off, but I may have to (as long as spell check is still active!).

Many thanks in advance.
