The screen was replaced on my iMac. Ever since then the fan will not stop running and there seems to be an issue with putting it to sleep. The last time I tried to put it to sleep, it shut down. It said that the shut down was performed due to a problem. Could these be related? Please help!

Yes. Take it back to the people who replaced the screen and have them fix it. Maybe they bumped the temp sensor cable or the sensor itself to cause the issue.
First run the Apple Hardware Test in extended mode to see if there's any problems reported and take the results with you if there are any reported:
OS X Mavericks: Use Apple Diagnostics or Apple Hardware Test
OS X Yosemite: Use Apple Diagnostics or Apple Hardware Test
Fan will not stop running!
