Is there a way to sync the newest iPod to a macbook pro with system 10.6.8? I can't download the newest version of iTunes

I bought a new iPod Touch. My version of iTunes will not recognize it when I plug it in. I am told to download the new iTunes, but I can't because my system doesn't support it. I have OS10.6.8. Is there some way to sync the items in my iTunes for my old iPod to the new one without the newest iTunes?

I do not think so since Apple says the the new iPod requires:

Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:

  • Mac: OS X v10.7.5 or later
  • iTunes 12.2 or later10 (free download from www.apple.com/itunes/download)
