Apole TV will not work on my Emerson TV? Is there any way to get around this? Can I hook up Apple TV thur dish receiver?

The brand is irrelevant. As long as the TV has HDMI ports that supports HDCP ATV will likely work with it just fine. If it does not have HDMI ports you will need a device that supports HDMI in to play it though.
