Apple TV isn't supported by my tv

I Have an Emerson TV lc401em2f which is lcd 1080p hdtv. When I hook it up nothing comes up, I tried on a different TV and works perfect. I called Emerson support and they said my TV will not supported by Apple TV. I don't understand why, it has all the requirements. Can I get around this?where is the list of supported tv? Can I hook up thru dish receiver?

Clearly it does not since it does not work. Did they say what requirement it did not have? Does it not support HDCP?

There is no list. It is not tied to brand. If it has HDMI that supports HDCP then it should be fine.
