I can not access my photos through iPhoto

I can not access my photos through iPhotowhen I attempt to install the recommended update, it reads, The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac is not compatible with OS X Yosemite. Download the latest version for free from the Mac App Store.

When I click the download button it reads, not available in the US, unfortunately, I am not heading overseas

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

If you don't want to use Photos for some reason, click here and try following the instructions.

iPhoto works fine if you are up to date with version 9.6.1 - if you are not then see this post - Can't Update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store
