Mac book pro won't start up or charge?

Last time I was using it there was about 70% battery life. But now the laptop wont charge anymore or start up. I tried pressing the start up button for 10seconds but nothing happened. I'm not insured and was wondering how much I was looking at paying in terms of repair ? Thanks
