Emails disappearing

All of my email in the Inbox and Sent mail disappeared suddenly. It happened one day when for no reason (I didn't change any settings) I couldn't receive any mail. When I tried to log in using the usual password, the server refused it. That when all the email evaporated. About four years worth of email, actually.

Is there a way to retrieve it?
