A'hem..... airdrake, you are misinformed....

This thread is about the new version of Alchemy, released as part of the recent update to Garageband....

Because.......

Apple bought Camel Audio...

The new version of their Alchemy plugin has now been released inside the latest update to Garageband.....

Some presets installed by the GB update also appear in LPX's Preset Library but the new version of the Alchemy plugin itself has not yet been released for LPXso these new presets etc, fail to work at this time.

It should hopefully, be available in the next update to Logic Pro X... fixing the issue.

You can. of course, still use the older, original Camel Audio released version of Alchemy in Logic Pro X of course...

No.. you dont need to do anything..... as nothing has been corrupted.... that is, if all you are asking about is the new Alchemy plugin being missing in Logic Pro X...

Again, the only thing that has changed is that GB was updated and that update included a new plugin based on the older Camel Audio Alchemy plugin.

So, the new library presets that came over from the new version of Garageband will not work... because Logic Pro X has not yet been updated to include the new plugin based on the old Alchemy plugin... that those new library presets use.

Current solution?

Simply don't need to use those specific new library presets that were added when you updated GB... until the update to Logic arrives... They are new library presets so you are not missing anything from Logic that you used in older projects.... and everything you created prior to the GB update, will work normally.

If, however, you are having an issue with accessing the older Camel Audio version of Alchemy that you previously bought and installed.. now you have updated Garageband.. and you cannot access it...or older projects cannot load it in... then simply reinstall the CA version of Alchemy..... Make sure it is validated in Logic's Plugin Manager... and it will work again.

Funny how things are made more confusing than they actually are.... still, since resources are shared it would have been wise of Apple to upgrade Logic at the same time. Been sitting on the sidelines watching this swirl out of control. 😎

Yes, I agree..

I don't really understand the issue with the delay in updating Logic unless it relates to how to integrate the existing Alchemy (and all it's existing Libraries) with the new version...

Or... of course, maybe something else, new.. is in the air such as MPE support..... and that's taking time to implement.. (if it is meant to also work with Alchemy's morphing capabilities which kinda makes sense if it did... )

As an aside... Given I recently 'surrendered' and bought a Linnstrument, because of how it works with Omnisphere etc...

I'd really like to see full MPE support in LPX.... 🙂
