iPhone 5 Charger Issues After Recent Update

My iPhone 5 charger broke a while back so I bought a third party one online.

When I plug it in, I get this message on the left: http://imgur.com/snDMm5Z

After the most recent update, when I plug it in, I still get the message on the left, but the message on the right is new. When the message on the right comes up, the phone stops charging. It is starting to be a pain to only be able to charge it a few minutes.

Any suggestions? If I need to buy a new charger, any recommendations on an inexpensive one that won't cause these issues?
