Re-installing Missing QuickTime Component

When trying to start iMovie, i get the following message: Missing QuickTime Component - The QuickTime component necessary to view, edit, import, and export high-definition movies is not installed. It is included with the iMovie installer; please re-install.

My Mac is running OS X 10.7.5 and the iMovie '09 is version 8.0.6.

My original discs are for Mac OS version 10.6.1. I have both the original Mac OS X Install DVD and Applications Install DVD.

How do I reinstall just the iMovie? I don't mind deleting the entire iMovie app and reinstalling it.

Or if there is an easier (or harder) way which will make iMovie work again, would much appreciate your help.

And when i insert the Applications Install DVD into the iMac (with hopes of reinstalling the iMovie app), the computer keeps spitting it out without doing anything.

What to do??
