new user name is not shown on power up screen

MacBook Pro 13 inch retina screen

Yosemite 10.4.4

I created a new user. After doing so, the new user does not appear on the startup screen.

How do I get the new user to appear on the start up screen?

Open System Preferences > Users & Groups then click Login Options then select: List of users

Restart your Mac.

I have both restarted and power downed my mac, but it has not worked.

Did you do what Carolyn Samit suggested and then rebooted?

What does appear on the initial login screen?
