my downloads folder in finders vanished after i moved it onto my laptop screen, how do i get it back?

I wanted to drag a file from my downloads folder into my document folder but I couldn't open both folders at the same time so I moved my download folder into my laptop screen but it vanished and I can't find it anywhere, the downloads on my dock doesn't have the same files as the download folder on my finder..i have no clue why, but is there a way to retrieve my download folder from my finder with all the content still there?
