iTunes - editing track information

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)

Processor 4 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096 MB

OSX Yosemite Version 10.10.4

iTunes Version 12.12.1.16 - With a total of 998262 tracks

When I am trying to edit track information, such as album art, track title, track position etc, iTunes stops responding!

If I do this in the Songs view there is no problem but if I do the same in Artist, Album view the iTunes stops responding and I have to quit and restart, this is a big pain, is there a problem with the software or is editing only avaialbe whilst in Songs view
