Cant import my iPhone contacts into my iPad with iTunes backup

I've got an iPad Air 2 about a 2 days ago. I want to import my iphone contacts that I got backup from my iPhone 6 to my new iPad by iTunes. I tried to restore from my backup but it didn't work. By the way I don't have my iPhone anymore and the only thing that I have is a backup from my iPhone.
