Have you tried a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, about 10-40 seconds, and then release both buttons.

Then try doing a deletion - but also note you cannot delete an app that was preinstalled with the iOS. You can only delete apps you added.

To stop the jiggling you push the HOME button.

Then any posted solution is a workaround for what is either a hardware problem or software corruption. You should try restoring iOS using iTunes on your computer to eliminate or confirm software corruption.

And you said NOTHING in your first post about the HOME button being unresponsive. This is exactly what you wrote:

Try this method to delete apps. Go to settings> general> usage> storage> manage storage> wait for the list of apps to appear then delete the app from there.

That may work, but it is still a workaround. This should not be happening. There is some problem with iOS or the phone's hardware, and it might have other side effects. It would be best to find the root cause.

I haven't asked yet, but this could be a symptom of a jailbroken phone.

Me too. It may be a matter of not waiting long enough, because deleting an app also deletes it contents, and if it's something like FB that can be a lot of data.

The first thing the Apple store will do is restore iOS on your phone using iTunes. So you may save yourself a trip by doing this before you go. And it's essential that you back up your phone to iTunes, iCloud or both before you go.
