I have reloaded ITunes and disconnected the Ipod then reconnected. I don't know what else to do.

What diagnostics tests? Was it at the Apple Store? Are you using an official Apple charger/sync cable? Is the iPod showing up in iTunes at all? Last question, do you know what generation iPod nano you have?
