remote control of an iTouch by iPad/iPhone

I have recently begun using my iTouch as the music source for my sound system (multi-input/speakers amp). The system is on the other side of the room so not easy to mute or lower volume.

I am looking for a way, if it exists, to use my iPad or iPhone as a remote control of the iTouch.

All the references I've found are about using the iTouch as a remote control.

Thanks for any information you might be able to provide.

Apple does not allow one to control remotely an iPod touch, iPad or iPhone.

With an iPod, iPad or iPhone you can can control an Apple TV and use your Computer's iTunes library with an Apple App
