I want to remove one computer from my network so that changes made on it will not be replicated on all of my other devices. I can't just turn off WiFi for a number of reasons. How do I do that?

On the Mac that you want to NOT share its contacts:
System Preferences > iCloud ...
disable the [√] Contacts checkbox.
Now that Mac has its own private contacts, and they will not be sync-ed with the others.
I did that, but Contacts still syncs. I'm very puzzled.
It should have made its own private copy of the "everybody" contacts.
But changes you make on that Mac should no longer be shared with others.
How can I control which devices synchronize, e.g., contacts?
