I have a Razer Black Widow Ultimate keyboard. The media keys always worked with iTunes, and globally. So I wouldn't need iTunes in focus for them to work.
With the latest version of iTunes, I noticed they don't work anymore. 😟 Anyone else have this issue on Windows?

So now this started happening on my Macbook at work too... Hmmm 😠
Okay, so I figured out the solution! In case someone else is having this issue, check your Chrome Keyboard Shortcut settings. Plex was stealing my Global media keys, so I changed them to Chrome only. I guess there was a Plex extension update. Woohoo! Hope this helps someone else too.
