warranty expired can i still bring it in to the apple store

just recently my macbook air restarted by itself...

once when i was trying to log in yesterday or the day before, and just now a few minutes ago....

I ran the diagnostic like it says online but it says no issues found...

What should I do? I'm currently also out of the country and won't be back until next thursday...

I was considering buying extended protection until I saw that it was $250....

Can I still take it into the apple store for them to look at it? I don't think online or phone support works since my warranty expired. I saw online they said they'll give you an estimate on costs before you give the green light to fix it... So does that mean that diagnosing it is free as well?

Yes. Apple will fix your computer even after the warranty expires. But now it will not be free. The diagnosis is free.

but they give you an estimate right?... im really juggling the whole coming back to the u.s. and getting an estimate or going ahead and buying the plan for 250...

Yes. You cannot get the warranty now because your computer must be working before you buy the extended warranty. Furthermore, you may only get the extended warranty prior to when your standard warranty expires.

it is working. it just randomly restarted.... everything else is functional, and i have one more day to decide if i want to buy it or not.

You cannot purchase the US extended warranty in another country. I believe you must purchase it from a US Apple Store (including the online Apple Store.)
