iphone 5 intermittent touch screen

I have an iPhone 5 that has worked well for a year but now the touch screen is intermittent. I have to hit the sleep button then re-wake the phone in order to get the screen to work. And that only works sometimes. I am also unable to swipe to answer calls. Here's what I have done thus far...

1. Restarted (several times)

2. Removed the case

3. Removed the screen protector

4. Clean the front screen very carefully.

5. Reset all settings.

6. Deleted many apps, pictures, video or anything else that wastes space

7. Connected to iTunes and checked for additional software downloads.

I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?
