iTunes spinning beach ball follows click on Home Movies

1. I launch iTunes 12.2.1.16

2. I click on Home Movies

3. Spinning beach ball persists until I force quit iTunes


Early 2009 Mac Pro running Yosemite 10.10.4

Problem fixed. Downgraded to iTunes 12.1.2.27 this method:


  1. Used AppZapper to remove iTunes
  2. Renamed last (pre-iTunes 12.2) library from Previous iTunes Libraries folder by removing the date from the filename -- then used that file to replace the existing iTunes Library.itl file (User/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library.itl)
  3. Opened TM backup to find last version of iTunes and dragged it to the Applications folder.
  4. Opened iTunes, signed in with Apple ID/PW.
  5. All works as it should.
