SSD speeds dropped dramatically

SSD speeds dropped dramatically. Writes dropped as much as 5 times and reads 2.5 times. Is there a way to restore ssd performance?

Man, srsly? What I really meant is there a pice of freaking software one could run to restore ssd performance without reformatting the bloody drive. What is the point of evaluating or contacting anyone if it is normal for ssd performance to degrade over extended period of time (haven't reformatted mine for 4 years now) especially if a s load of small writes and rewrites is always going on.

Since it's not clear if the SSD is Apple's or a third party drive, we don't know if TRIM is active. You can see from this article, especially the graph, what a difference TRIM can make. In any case, the Garbage Collection process in the SSD controller will often work better if the drive it's on has some quiet time to do its thing. You can give it that by booting with the Option key down after the chime. That puts you in the Startup Manager, and the drive will be powered up and visible but not actually in use. Leaving it that way for some time can give it a chance to clean itself up. Note that since your drive is small to begin with, if there's little or no free space, it may have a tough time, and while some manufacturers recommend that technique, others may not.
