Your email did not go through because the server did not reply. iPhoto 9.6

I'm not able to send photos out from iPhoto via email. I select the photos, click share, go to mail, click a few photos, add the recipients email, verify my iCloud email is in the 'from" dropdown (it's the only option) and click send and after a few minutes I get this error.

did apple shut down this service when they went to Photo? I'm still on 10.10.0

and if I go to iCloudand try to verify my alternate account I get this message.

however if I go to https://www.icloud.com/ I can log in.

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10), Dual Xeon 2.4, 64 GB RAM

what email client are you using?

Usually the best solution is to set Mail as your email client in the iPhoto preferences

Go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the email account. Add it back and try again.

A better solution is to set Mail as the email client for iPhoto in iPhoto's General preference pane.

It's more reliable, gives you a sent copy automatically and has many photo templates in Mail's stationary feature.

I'm not using mac mail, I don't want mail coming into this computer through that app, I only want to send out of iPhoto.

deleted the account and added it back but no change. I really don't want mail on this mac but apparently it looks like if I want to send out of iPhoto I'm going to have to do something I won't do at this time.

Go to the System/Internet Accounts preference pane, delete the account and add it back there. Reboot and try iPhoto again.

just did that, rebooted and when I go to open iPhoto I get

I looks like its pulling iphoto from one of my archive drives. If I go to my boot drive apps I can launch from there.

but still...

crazy as this sounds I disconnected my wired network and switched to wi-fi (different provider) and this went though.

so the ISP or a firewall (I manage neither) may be the cause.

Stay on WiFi and turn on the firewall in the System preferences. That will tell you if it's the firewall or the ISP.

it's a managed firewall or series of firewalls, it's not a home network but it should be open, apparently it's the IT unplugging things and seeing who calls to find out what they did approach to network topology.
