How do I trim clips in imovie 8 to a specific start and stop time

I am using iMovie 8.0.6.

I have 8 video clips that I am using to create a montage for someone. He gave me specific start and stop points so that I use only certain portions of each clip. For example, if the clip is 1 minute long, I have to trim the clip so that it starts at 20 seconds in and stops at 50 seconds in. I put each of the 8 clips into separate events, with the intent that I would trim each clip to the correct length then add each clip to the project. I cannot figure out how to trim the clips to the exact times I need because when I adjust the yellow box around the clip it does not show me what time I am at in the clip.

How can trim the clips to the exact start and stop points that I need?
