I used to be able to synch contacts and calendars and now i can't: between iMac with 10.8.5 and iPhone5s with current iOS. Recently had stability issues with the iMac and it was in at Apple store where no problem found, but has worked since. I have turned iCloud on on each device and now afraid to turn it off because of ominous warnings like all data will be lost, etc.
Please help get my synching back.

Problem solved. I had also upgraded to the latest iOS on the phone. when i did that, synch settings did not carry forward. Had in iTunes to click on device (phone), info, then such settings.
