itunes tells me I must be connected to the internet to transfer rented movies

- I have verified the connection and still get the error - help - going on a trip and need my movies!

Ran diagnostics in Itunes and it says all network connectivity tests passed

I can get to the itunes store and download fine

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.4
