How do I import JPGs from Photos into iMovie '09?

I used to do this with iPhoto and there wasn't a hitch. I gather that as a result of updating to OSX 10.10.4 my photo library has been migrated to Photos. When I tried to find them from within iMovie I got a "no media found" message. I'm guessing I need to update iMovie. Is that the answer, or am I missing something?

Thanks,

Andy

Hi dulcimer,

I gather when you are in Photos you see the desired pictures but within iMovie you get the message of "no media found".

I doubt you are missing something, but here are the two ways you can add Photos images to iMovie.

Add Photos images to an iMovie project - Apple Support

Use the Libraries browser in the iMovie sidebar

You can access your Photos library from within iMovie:

  1. In the left-hand sidebar of the iMovie window, select Photos Library.
  2. Click the pop-up menu at the top of the image browser to choose a content category—My Albums, Albums, Years, Collections, Moments, or Places.
  3. When you find the photo you’d like to use, drag it into the Timeline.

Drag and drop from the Desktop

You can drag photos from your Desktop and drop them into iMovie:

  1. Drag the photo you’d like to use from Photos to your Desktop.
  2. Drag the photo from the Desktop to the Timeline in your iMovie project.

If that isn't working see if this helps.

Thanks Nubz. I discovered yesterday that I could drag and drop the photos in. As obvious as that seems for some reason I hadn't done it before - I always used that little browser within iMovie, and you're right, since the OS update I was getting the "No Media Found" message.

Anyway, thanks for the help. I appreciate it!
