Transfer music - a specific scenario

I just finished installing Yosemite on my SSD connected via thunderbolt. i still have most of my data on the stock internal 500gb HDD, including my music.Every time I open iTunes, I see the opening page where it asks me to either go to the iTunes store or scan for media. Nothing - absolutely nothing - happens when i click on 'scan for media'. I went to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced and set the folder to my old media library. It is located at:

/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/Chupacabra/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music

Despite this, none of the music is showing up in iTunes. Have I missed out on some step or is there some reason why iTunes is not showing the media? I want the iTunes library to stay on the internal hard disk (Macintosh HD).

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Launch iTunes with the Option key held down, click on Choose Library, and navigate to the iTunes folder.
