Is it a dead screen or something else?

Hi all I have an early 2008 Macbook Pro 15", unfortunately it seems to have died on me. The screen no longer comes on, the apple logo on the top no longer lights up and when connecting it to my television nothing happens. I have searched the internet for weeks trying every possible little thing to solve this however nothing works at all.
