How come I can't get Lion back?

I have a Mid-2012 15" MBP that came installed with OS X Lion. Following a logic board replacement at Apple Retail, when I run Internet Recovery or use the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant tool, I get OS X Mountain Lion. I was told to purchase OS X Lion from the Apple Online Store but when I try to install I get the following error - "This version of Mac OS X is too new to run "Install Mac OS X" from Mac OS X 10.7". How can I get OSX Lion back on my machine?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion
