I am getting error code 2001 when trying to restore my iPhone 5, 32 gig running iOS 8.4. It is almost exactly 2 years old. Is there a way to restore the phone or am I stuck replacing it? It is currently just flashing the apple logo over and over when plugged into laptop. I have followed all suggestions identified by apple. I plugged it into my macbook pro with the latest version of OS and iTunes.

To confirm you did this, this would mean you have done all of the following:

  • Followed the four bullets under "Check your USB connections"
  • Followed the four items under "Check for hardware issues"
  • Followed the four bullets under "Check for outdated or modified software"
  • Used recovery mode to restore your device
