Mystery request for Administrator privilege

I receive boxes asking for Administrator Privilege to modify a program but the program is not identified. To me this is a security hazard. shouldn't Apple require upgrades to be identified as to Program or company?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)

That happens less frequently with the latest Mac OS X versions. Often the message is about administering printers when printing documents. Ignoring them doe not seem to cause any harm.
