iCloud account credit card will not update

icloud credit card update rarely works, but currently I input my new card expiration in July 2017 and iCloud keeps errors get out. "Card is expired". Really? I've tried about 10 times and account will not update. The 10 attempts is normal for iCloud but seems to really be convinced that it is 2017.
