itunes ipad backup fails - due to - "not enough space" = 220Gig free!

iPad backup will not complete due to "not enough space" message...

We have not been able to resolve, even after searching itunes help an Apple support.

Host computer running on Win7 home premium. ITunes 12.2.1.16, with and iPad model MC764LL/A, serial DLXG12WCDxxx.

I have removed all backups from the devices portion of itunes, emptied the trash bin, and there is >220Gig free space on the hard drive. I have also tried to relocate the library directory to an Airport Extreme Time Capsule.

ALL a waste of time so far.

Why is there not any help for this most basic of message/issue?

Anyone have a clue?

iPad, iOS 8.3

Is your iPad set to automatically backup to iCloud? The message you are seeing might be related to not enough iCloud storage. Check the Settings app.

Settings > iCloud > Backup > On or Off?

Settings > iCloud > Storage > How much storage shows there?
