Lost Iphone 6- in lost Mode but off line

I lost my iphone 6 last night and have used find my iphone on my mac to try and locate it, but the device is saying 'offline'. i have activated lost mode, but obviously because the phone is off line, lost mode is pending until the phone is online again. From reading previous threads the phone being offline means that it has no 3G or wifi signal. I actually blocked my sim with my phone provider prior to locating the 'find my iphone' on my mac (and activating lost mode), so should i call my provider to unblock my phone/ sim so that perhaps find my iphone might work and the lost mode will be activated?? Additionally- i will need 3G/ Wifi connection to arase the phone if i am unable to find it and get it back?
