Looking for some advice on choosing refurbished 13.3inch MacBook Pro Retina

I've been using a pretty busted PC for years and I'm long due a technical overhaul. I wanna go for the 13.3inch MacBook Pro, but need to get a refurbished one to try save on some dollas. The choices available at the moment are between one with 8gb/128gb flashdrive/Retina display or a 4gb/256gb flashdrive with no Retina display. Both are the exact same price (£849) so I'm really trying to weigh up the pros and cons of the situation.

Some info on me: not too technologically savvy but would still like best quality/longevity for money. Need a fair amount of storage for photos, some videos and music but not adverse to using an external hard drive. Otherwise, not a big gamer or anything and would mostly be using the computer for web browsing/ word processing/ streaming/ various other mundane activities.

Also, I don't know how regularly the refurbished products change/get updated... Maybe I should wait to find the 8gb/256gb flashdrive/Retina combo that would be ideal but obviously pricier. Anyone have info on this?

Anyway, any advice/views/perspectives on the differences between the two would be greatly appreciated! As said before, not too techno-savvy so apologies if my query appears moronic!

Thanks!

I have purchased refurbished MBPs three times and found it to be a very satisfactory method. One gets the same warranty and telephone support as a new one and all three were cosmetically perfect.

I suggest that you visit an Apple store and look at the two models side by side to determine if the retina display is an important feature. Note that the non-retina model can have additional RAM and a larger storage drive installed, the retina MBP cannot have RAM increased but you may be able to get a larger flash drive for it, which will be very expensive.

The refurbished section can change very quickly from day to day. I vacillated for several months on my last refurbished purchase and then ordered it. Three weeks later, that model disappeared forever. As soon as you can decide, purchase it. You may be put of luck if you wait too long.

Ciao.
