I keep getting prompted to enter my Apple ID password but its for the wrong Apple ID.

Hello,

I recently changed my Apple ID. Now when I try to do anything I get prompted to enter my Apple ID password but it's for the old Apple ID. I go into iCloud and change it but the old ID is still there. I can't make any purchases from iTunes or anything. Any suggestions on how to delete the old ID so it's no longer in there?

Thanks!

iPad Air, iOS 8.4

Welcome to the Apple community.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.

This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.

However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.

The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.

You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

I had this issue. The main problem is the iMac I would use for my iPhone had the wrong user id. I had to make sure my iPhone and iMac had the most recent iTunes and even operating systems in place to make sure the sync would update correctly. I was not able to upload and install updates on any aps which was very frustrating. Make sure all user ids are correct from the main computer you sync your information. If your aps won't update. Uninstall and install. This took me a couple of days to complete because I had to use trial and error. My biggest problem was I hardly used my iMac and the operating system and iTunes were out of date therefore reverting back to my old user id prompt which was not correct.

I keep getting prompted to enter my Apple ID password but its for the wrong Apple ID.
