how do I remove a photo album from the desktop on macbook pro after I have burned the photos to a disc

I am new to MacBook pro and have put some photos into an album, I then wanted to burn photos onto a disc so I selected all photos and they came up on the desktop and I successfully burned them to a disc but now the photos are still on the desktop. how do I remove them from the desktop and put the album back into photos.
