Macbook Pro 2015 trackpad two finger swipe giving me the finger

Bought a brand new Macbook Pro retina 13", with high expectations, specially around the trackpad. Coming from years of PC laptops, I hated trackpads.

I have one specific problem: the two finger swipe to scroll between pages on safari, only works in a single tab! That is, if I have clicked a few pages in a specific tab, then the two finger swipe navigates through the history of that tab but not from tab to tab, which is the main goal!

I've tried turing everything on and of to no avail, what's giving?
