Canon Digital Photo Professional 4.3.0 install fails under MacOS 10.10.5

New version of this utility downloads OK, unzips apparently correctly and the .dmg file mounts as a disk image with a window that shows an install application icon. A double-click on the application yields a progress bar that says that files are being expanded, but then nothing more happens.

I have done disk permission repairs and turned-off all my anti-virus software to no avail.

Canon support thinks it is a Mac Yosemite (10.10.5) issue. Software is a direct download from the Canon USA site for DPP 4.3.0. This same behavior is seen for one or two other downloads I have tried from the site. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Got any suggestions?

The Terms of Use of ASC prohibit discussion of beta software - you will have to take this to the appropriate forum for 10.10.5.

Not knowing how you got the beta software, the downgrade is a bit trying, you need to erase the hard drive and reinstall the released version of the software and all of your applications. Normally, when using beta software one is told to make a complete backup first so you can simply erase and then restore the backup. If you did not do so then you have to go through the painful approach or just live with it until the release version comes out.

10.10.4 now - golly, I *swear* it said 10.10.5 a few minutes ago - I checked it and I must have been having visual illusions. I have not been using any controlled substances or *anything* that would do this.

S--t! I just did it again and got 10.10.5! It's staying at "5" for the last few tries. OMG this is wierd...

I'm going to send this and continue monitoring...

If you click on the version number, the 10.10.x, what does it say for the build - if it is 14F something it is 10.10.5, 14E something is 10.10.4.

Anyway, whatever, even if I get my wrist slapped, have you tried talking to the support folks at Canon to see what is going on? That sounds like either a corrupting download (not likely) or something messy on Canon's end. Hard to believe there could be multiple files that are damaged and not installable.

14E46 for the 10.10.4 which is what I'm seeing right now. Next time it flips to 10.10.5 I'll post that version.

I think Canon is not admitting that they have an issue here - they had "something like this yesterday" that they passed-off as an Apple issue, too. It may be some strange supposedly "inactive" pre-10.10.5 software in this build of 10.10.4 that is interacting with Canon's installation program. I'll call back and nag them (lotta good that will do...).

Agree re: MacOS - never seen anything like this. Having said that, it has been stable since our last exchange, even though I have tried to challenge the system with downloads, extractions, Safari vs. Firefox, etc., etc. Whatever triggered this I am unable to reproduce, so far. I'll let you know if that changes...

Needless to say, the original problem is still there - unable to install the app..
