i've been reading alot about 'lease' which is under dhcp and nat in apple utility. I want to change the lease from the default amount of time which is '1 day' to something not as long. I'm just trying to figure out what exactly that will do for me...
Reducing the local IP address lease time allows the DHCP service to retrieve unused addresses when network clients no longer need them and redistribute them. This is typically used in environments where you would support multiple network "guests." Like in a coffee shop, railway station, airport, or the foyer of a commercial business.
If you have a home network, and devices will tend to stay connected most of the time......and not come and go all the time....then you could make a good case for having a longer lease time......not a shorter lease time.
